Apply4 is delighted to welcome the City of Simi Valley, California, which has signed up to all four of its products: FilmApp, EventApp, LocationDB and CrewDB.
The partnership will give Simi Valley an integrated set of digital tools for managing film and event permit applications, promoting filming locations and connecting productions with local crew and suppliers.
Located within Hollywood’s Thirty Mile Zone, Simi Valley has a screen history stretching back to the early days of the movie-ranch era. Its open landscapes, distinctive rock formations, standing sets and studio facilities have made it a popular production destination for decades.
Productions filmed in the area include The Big Lebowski, Captain America: The First Avenger, Poltergeist, Men in Black, Veep, NCIS and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Its filming infrastructure includes movie ranches, backlots and six acoustically sealed sound stages.
Under the new partnership:
FilmApp will provide a streamlined online system for receiving and managing film permit applications.
EventApp will support the management of special event applications and communication between organisers, city departments and other stakeholders.
LocationDB will help Simi Valley showcase its diverse locations to filmmakers through an AI-powered, searchable image library.
CrewDB will enable productions to find and connect with local crew members and suppliers, while helping the city demonstrate the depth of its production community.
The agreement marks an important expansion for Apply4 in California and demonstrates how cities can use connected technology to make permitting more efficient, while strengthening their wider offer to the film and events industries.
